Edinburgh of the Seven Seas (ESS), known locally as The Village, is a small village and the only settlement on the remote island of Tristan da Cunha, a part of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most remote permanent settlements in the world, lying 2,434 kilometres (1,512 mi) away from Jamestown, St. Helena, the nearest settlement to the village.
