The city's name "Vinh" currently refers to a 166.22 square kilometres (64.18 sq mi) area, comprising an urban agglomeration of 6 wards, including Trường Vinh, Thành Vinh, Vinh Hưng, Vinh Phú, Vinh Lộc, and Cửa Lò.
